Upon marrying her now husband of 33 years, Jose Luis Mendoza, Graciela moved to Salinas where she owned and operated her own Beauty Salon for over 15 years. Graciela enjoyed the community connection and social aspect of her work but decided to sell the business to spend more time at home with her four children.

In 2006, once 3 out of her 4 children were adults and in college, and she realized how much she missed the interaction with community members, she became a real estate agent. She knows the community and its surrounding areas very well, as it has been her home for most of her life.
